Delivered an integrated PPM solution for Australia’s largest-ever rail infrastructure project, with the solution focused on:

  • Project cost control, planning, purchasing, and contract management
  • Electronic business process automation
  • Integration with client systems: Finance, Purchasing, Planning, and IT
  • Enterprise data warehousing and dashboard reporting

The scale and complexity of the project required a transition from paper-based processes and Excel to an integrated cost and contract solution. This solution connected the organisation’s project services functions, project team members, and management through clear processes, seamless information exchange, and enterprise reporting capable of supporting a program of this scale.

Process Overview

By standardising and streamlining core project control and contract management processes, the number and complexity of workflows were reduced, resulting in faster turnaround times for key reviews and approvals. Reliable, timely management data is delivered through system integrations and an enterprise data warehouse, enhancing efficiency and data accuracy while reducing the administrative overhead of managing program financials.

Technical Overview

The workflow solution was built using FlowForma, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure Function Apps, supported by an Azure SQL Database. These components were integrated with key enterprise systems including Ci Financials, Primavera P6, and the Client Cost and Contract Control system, while Power BI provided enterprise‑level reporting and analytics.
