Delivered an integrated project management solution for the infrastructure delivery division of an ASX100 energy infrastructure company

The company manages a nationwide portfolio of gas pipelines and facilities, with an expansion into renewable generation assets, with the solution focusing on:

  • Cost control, planning, engineering and contract management
  • Electronic business process automation
  • Interface with Workday and ECM
  • Enterprise data warehousing and dashboarding

This uplift provided the delivery team with a unified, enterprise‑grade platform for project management and performance reporting across their capital program.

The workflow solution supports end‑to‑end project control processes, covering Engineering Baselines (CTRs), Design Change Notices (DCNs), Engineering Forecasts, Project Change Management, Contract Formation and Administration, Contract Events and Variations, Payment Certification, and all Notices exchanged with subcontractors.

The workflow solution connected directly to the client’s SharePoint site for structured document management and leveraged DocuSign to administer all Delegation of Authority approval pathways.

Standardised contract templates were used to generate outbound notices and contract variations to subcontractors, and all incoming contractor correspondence was captured and managed through project‑specific email mailboxes.

Process Overview

The Engineering team used the CTR workflow to establish design estimates, with any subsequent changes managed through the DCN workflow. Contract Administrators created new contracts via the Contract Formation workflow and managed subcontractor communication through the Notices, Contract Events, Variations, and Payment Certification processes. All data was then consolidated into the Contract & Cost Control solution, where Cost Controllers monitored the overall project, incorporating additional incurred costs integrated from the client’s ERP system and managing the month‑end snapshot reporting cycle. Extended project team members accessed the system through workflow email notifications or via Enterprise Reporting Dashboards in Power BI.

Technical Overview

The solution leveraged Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, Static Web Apps, Data Lake, and Power BI to produce monthly snapshot datasets for month‑end reporting. Integration with the client’s ERP system was delivered through Azure Logic Apps, Function Apps, and SharePoint. The workflow layer utilised FlowForma, Logic Apps, Function Apps, SharePoint, and DocuSign to support end‑to‑end process automation.
